Our materials are designed using a rigorous process based on principles of learning, cognitive psychology, health communication, and behavior change. Learning goals are identified and an educational curriculum is designed to achieve these goals and link them explicitly to desired health behaviors. We then work with patients to identify the words, graphics, and analogies that best communicate essential messages. These tools are designed to assist health educators and clinicians with information transfer and are not intended to replace the essential human interaction needed to optimally learn. They provide clear, plain-language explanations that should allow educators and clinicians to spend more time answering patientsí questions and setting behavioral goals.
