Michael E. Roloff, PhD, is Professor of Communication Studies at Northwestern University.

Research Areas
Dr. Galvin's research focuses on family interaction with specific interests in adoption, family diversity, same-sex parenting and family health.

Education and Experience
He received his Ph.D. in Communication from Michigan State University in 1975. He taught for three years at the University of Kentucky before joining the faculty at Northwestern in 1978. He completed a term as the editor of Communication Yearbook and is currently co-editor of Communication Research. He is a member of the Academy of Management, American Psychological Association, American Psychological Society, International Communication Association, International Association for Conflict Management, International Network for the Study of Personal Relationships, International Society for the Study of Social and Personal Relationships, National Council on Family Relations, and the National Communication Association.
